Grandma Wilcox

These are the only pictures of me and my Grandma that I have. I'm glad I have them now. I knew when I took them I'd be glad one day that I had some pictures with her. It's weird to think that if I go to my Grandma's house she's not there anymore. Since my family lived close to her house we saw her almost every week growing up and all the time in the summer. She created an environment that was so fun and kick back that all her grandkids always loved going over there. I always told people I had the coolest Grandma in the world! Her house was always such a meeting place for all the cousins to come play and have fun. She would give us some money, make us delicious breakfasts, and immediately refill the candy bowls when we finished them off.

I'll miss her funny sense of humor the most. She had this way of making everything "light". That's the only way I know how to explain it. She was never overbearing or over the top. She was nothing but fun to be around and always made side remarks that kept you laughing every time you thought about them. I'll never forget playing Mafia with her when she said, "I know you're the mafia because I peeked and saw you!" I mean who does that?! Really. Hilarious. I used to be so proud to tell that story that I had a little sweet old Grandma who loved to cheat while playing games.

She always took your side. And even if she didn't because even you knew you were wrong, she'd make a little joke or laugh to make you feel loved instead of frowned upon. I didn't realize what going to her house has meant to me growing up, til now. Even since I've been at home for the last 6 months I still loved going over there! I just wish my kids could've experienced what it was like to go over Grandma Wilcox's house.

I'm going to miss my Grandma but I feel lucky to be her granddaughter and hopefully I can create such a fun, loving environment for my grandkids one day like she did for us.
